Accommodation Concern proud to receive Rose of Northamptonshire award

3rd March 2021

Today, Wednesday 03/03/2021, Accommodation Concern is proud to receive the Rose of Northamptonshire award. This award looks to identify, and to express thanks to those groups or individuals who have worked tirelessly to keep our communities safe, and our businesses moving during the global COVID-19 crisis.

While the pandemic is still ongoing, the County Council and its Leader, as well as the formal institutions of the High Sherriff's Office and Lord Lieutenancy has recognised that many across the County have committed themselves to response and relief efforts since the beginning of the outbreak. The award highlights those in every sector and locality of the County that have played a key role, and members of the community have nominated Accommodation Concern because they believed we deserve county-wide recognition and appreciation.

Accommodation Concern wish to extend our gratitude and great honour to receive the Rose of Northamptonshire award. This is in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Accommodation Concern team to help with homelessness, housing advice and alleviate poverty in the Northamptonshire area.

“We are so proud that the work our team has delivered has been acknowledged. When the pandemic hit, all those rough sleeping in the town were offered Covid secure accommodation and we have supported this cohort to maintain their accommodation alongside supporting those who became homeless during the pandemic. The team has continued to respond to housing, benefit and debt issues, provide food parcels, grants and our supported accommodation to those in need during this time despite some challenging circumstances. The whole team deserve this award and I am so proud for them to be recognised in this way.”

- Jo Moore (C.E.O. Accommodation Concern)

"There are very many people who during the pandemic have consistently put the needs of others ahead of their own, keeping communities connected and supporting the most vulnerable members of society. The 'Rose of Northamptonshire' awards have been launched so that the people of Northamptonshire can recognise and thank them."

- James Saunders Watson Esq. (Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire)

"With the COVID-19 crisis impacting on so many county-wide it is crucial that we pause to take note of those doing exceptional work that hasn't yet been acknowledged. This award from the public helps put a spotlight on those people and lets them know they have the support of the whole of Northamptonshire"

- Cllr Matthew Golby (Leader of the Council)
