Hours of work 15 hours per week
Salary £9,523.80 - £10,108.80 Actual (£23,809.50 - £25,272 FTE)
Contract Fixed-term until 31st March 2026
Location Based at West Northants Council
Annual leave 5 days plus bank holidays
Pension 3% employer contribution
Essential requirement You must be a driver with access to your own vehicle (this is non-negotiable)

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Generalist Advisor to provide high-quality, person-centred advice and casework across housing, welfare benefits, and debt. You'll be working predominately from The Northampton Guildhall - St Giles' Square in Northampton, however, there will be some need to work from the Accommodation Concern offices in Kettering or visiting clients at their home addresses across Northamptonshire, to support clients facing poverty, housing instability, and financial hardship.

This is a Fixed-term post until 31st March 2026.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver impartial advice and casework in housing, benefits, and debt matters
  • Assist with benefit applications, housing options, budgeting, and debt management
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with local authorities, creditors, and other agencies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records using AdvicePro
  • Work flexibly across delivery sites and support clients via face-to-face, phone, and online channels

About You:

  • Experience working with disadvantaged or vulnerable adults
  • Strong communication, organisational, and IT skills
  • A team player who can also work independently and manage a busy caseload
  • Knowledge of the welfare system and debt solutions
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
