Urgent help

If you have nowhere safe to stay, are at immediate risk, or are facing a crisis, use the contacts below. You do not have to wait until you are sleeping rough to ask the council for homelessness help.

What is happening?

  • Immediate danger or serious injury: call 999 now.
  • Nowhere safe to stay tonight: call the council for the area you are in.
  • At risk of homelessness: contact Housing Options as soon as possible. The council can help before you lose your home.
  • Unsafe because of violence or abuse: call 999 in an emergency and tell the council it is not safe to remain where you are.

Choose the council for the area where you are staying or where you have a local connection. Tell them clearly if you have nowhere safe to sleep tonight.

Housing Options and emergency out-of-hours:

Call 0300 126 7000

Call 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. If you have nowhere to stay tonight after 5pm, use the same number for the out-of-hours service.

Mental health crisis

Call 111 and select the mental health option to reach local support. Northamptonshire Healthcare's Mental Health Number is also available 24 hours a day on 0800 448 0828.
