Controlling connections between our devices, systems and the internet.
Practical protection
Accommodation Concern has achieved Cyber Essentials certification across the whole organisation, recognising the practical technical controls we have in place to reduce our exposure to the most common cyber attacks.
People trust AC with information connected to advice, housing, referrals and support. Our staff and partners also need confidence that the systems they use are managed carefully. Cyber Essentials adds independent, government-backed assurance to the everyday work we do to protect that trust.

What was assessed
Cyber Essentials focuses on the technical controls that help organisations resist common, high-volume cyber attacks.
Controlling connections between our devices, systems and the internet.
Setting up technology securely and removing unnecessary access or features.
Keeping software and devices supported and applying important security fixes.
Giving people the access they need while protecting accounts and administrator privileges.
Using appropriate safeguards to reduce the risk from malicious software.
Beyond the certificate
Technical controls matter, but secure services also depend on the choices people make each day. At AC that includes using multi-factor authentication, keeping approved devices updated, sharing information carefully, recognising suspicious messages and reporting concerns quickly.
Cyber Essentials is one part of our wider approach to information governance, privacy, staff training and responsible digital transformation. We will continue reviewing our systems and strengthening them as risks, services and technology change.
