Urgent hardship
What we may be able to help with
Accommodation Concern can sometimes help people access emergency support for food, fuel and essentials, depending on their situation, available funding and eligibility.
Emergency support should not just patch the immediate problem. Where possible, we also look at what has caused the crisis and whether advice around housing, benefits, debt or income could help stop the same problem happening again.
If someone is at immediate risk of harm, call 999. If you have nowhere safe to stay tonight, contact the relevant council homelessness service as well as contacting us.
Examples
Types of emergency support
- Food vouchers or access to food parcels
- Emergency energy or utility support
- Essential white goods or household items where funding allows
- Help with ID documents where these are a barrier to support
- Tenancy deposits or first month's rent support where a scheme is available
- Removal costs or practical move-on support in specific circumstances
- Carpets, flooring or essential set-up items where funding allows
- Advice to address the housing, benefit, debt or income issue behind the crisis

Working with local partners
We work with partner agencies and local crisis support routes, including foodbank and community support options, so people can receive practical help with dignity.
Some support depends on external funding, referral criteria or evidence. We will explain what is possible and what information may be needed.
Start with a referral
The quickest online route is the advice referral form. Tell us what has happened, what support is needed and any urgent deadlines.
