There was plenty to look back on, and plenty to look forward to, as the AC community came together for our Annual General Meeting on Friday 25 September at Christ the King Church in Kettering.
With our 40th anniversary at the heart of the occasion, it was a chance to pause, reconnect and celebrate the people who have helped shape Accommodation Concern over the years.
Looking back with pride
A video celebrating the past year set the scene, before a panel of former colleagues shared memories of AC from the late 1980s and 1990s onwards. Their reflections brought us back to what has always mattered: listening, treating people as individuals and offering practical help before difficulties become a crisis.
Much has changed in four decades, but that commitment to people remains at the centre of our work.
A year of making a difference
Updates from across our services gave a flavour of a busy year: helping people with debt and benefits, growing our supported accommodation, taking advice into community spaces and opening up new opportunities through our employability service.
We also heard directly from people who have used AC’s services. Their experiences were a powerful reminder of why this work matters, and of the difference that being listened to and supported can make.
Welcoming our Chair
We were delighted that Sarah-Louise Isaacson was elected Chair of Accommodation Concern, having served as Interim Chair for the past 18 months. Thank you, Sarah-Louise, for your leadership and commitment as AC continues to grow.
Looking ahead, together
The day also made space for the future: stronger community partnerships, more supported accommodation and thoughtful use of technology to give our teams more time with the people who need us.
After the formal meeting, lunch and refreshments offered a welcome chance to catch up and continue the conversations.
A warm thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our staff, volunteers, trustees, partners and supporters. Whether you have been part of AC’s story for decades or have only recently joined us, you are helping shape what comes next.
